The car i bought last weekend came with a regal/eds ipf unit..... obviously i can map the car it came with, but my question is, can i use it on my wifes coupe turbo aswell....
No, it locks to the ECU number
I think there locked to one car!
Mmmmm....thats a bugger..... what i did try tho , is when u load it up it asks wether to use existing ecu data. i clicked yes at first, which then gave me a list of the maps(inc the 3.5 ones).
But then i started the prog again ,and clicked no when it asked to use existing ecu info....then it said disconnect ipf from pc, and plug into obd socket of the car i wish to use it on(which i didnt do)....now i'm usure wether to try it and see what happens...
The IPF is banded to the VIN number of the car, that also is banded to the ECU.
The ECU and the VIN number has to be the same to work..
As above. EDS aren't stupid
Otherwise the club could just buy one and rent it out for £50 a week
a boffin giving some time alone with one of these units will soon work out how to un-lock it, tbh im surprised it hasnt been done.
Astra T9 estate for sale, see my ebay link!
I did hear someone with a tech 2 can mirror ECU ID's and map it that way but not sure how true it is. Either way i spent the £500 and bought one. Cool unit but boost fluctuations which im gutted about.
