    Unhappy 1.7dti knocking ?

I have been having a problem with a strange knocking sound when i pull away.
When i pull off or shift up i get a knock sounds like it comes from drivers side.
if i lift off then it knocks again as the car slows down, accelerate and knock again.
Really annoying now as its fairly loud.
    any help would be brilliant

Sounds like could be the engine mount on drivers side of the car. Quick test is whilst stationary get someone watching the engine to see if it bounces when you rev harshly and slow.

tried this but tbh with out another one to compare it to we are just guessing lol.
looked fine to me but then i'm no mechanic lol
I have noticed that the front engine mount is showing signs of wear, the rubber is starting to crack n perish. would this be the issue?
Having my timing belt changed on friday so the mechanic should notice then if the engine mount is on its way out.....shouldn't he??

Does the steering feel light to one side when you pull away quickly? if so I would say engine mount has gone. Diesels have a lot of torq and a visual inspection of the mount won't tell you much, another way to test it is using a bar, once they start to go weak it's best just to replace them as you will get a much better drive when you do.

Maybe your lower arm bush gone!!

Get someone to look as you pull away and stop to see if the wheel has anyforwards/backwards movement.

only slowly as if you were pulling off then stop etc....

would it be the bushes or ball joint ??
    or both?
I have priced up the bushes locally and it's cheaper to buy a new wishbone which comes with the bushes already in it.
