I dont know if anyone can confirm this though, i have the haynes manual for the mk4 diesels which states in the front it does not cover the 1.7CDTi engines. Not sure if the one in the mk4 is the same as the one in the mk5.

I would have thought sensors etc might be in different places on a mk5?

I have a 04 van with a 1.7 cdti engine, I have bought two manuals one covers the G for body steering brakes etc, but the one that covers the cdti engine is haynes manual 4733, this book does the 1.3, 1.7 and 1.9.

the CDTI engine is the same in the MK5 if it's just the engine you are interested in.

Common rail engines were available from 2003 and badged CDTI, that's what the C means
