    13 pin towbar electrics

had a 7 pin towing plug, the new caravan comes as standard on a 13 pin single plug, i have now fitted a 13 pin plug, but just wired up the lights (so i could at least tow the caravan) now i have 6 empty slots....reverse light, power charge for caravan battery etc. can anybody tell me where i get the feeds from? or for power do i need to run a cable through the car from the battery?

yeah, book says 1.5t braked trailer, caravan is 1.2t. had it on the other day to see whether it would tow nice as the car is lowered on 19's, ran fine. probably contributed to my gearbox knackeering but hey ho. got a detactable towbar which is good and all the electrics are hidden and fold down from behind the rear bumper when you need them.

you think its a bad idea?

You may have a fairly big Battery feed to the REC, if you have one, otherwise you will have to run a cable.

dont sounds too clever having it filled up with gear on the back of an astra lowered on 19s have you tried it once its filled up with gear? if not be careful may regret it... but if you have tried and its fine then fare play mate go for it

when i tried it, it had most of the gear in it, all except cloths, so im not too worried about that. granted it does dwarf my car and looks pretty funny. i'll put some pictures up once my car is back.
the thing that annoyed me the most was that i had to take a seperate test B+E (as i passed after 1997) to tow a trailer over 750kg, or a vehicle + trailer weighing more than 3500kg. cost me £550. and yet my previous job was farming and i could drive a tractor trailer combination of 24 tons on standard license, wheres the sense in that!!!!
