    Mk5 dash removal??

    right,
My dad has the 1.6 design on a 59 plate with a piano black dash.
as he's sellin it he has very kindly said if i do all the work i can swap it for my standard dash (1.9cdti)
a few tips on how to remove the centre and gear surround would be great!

this might sound a stupid question but is the dash just a cover plate or is it all attatched to all the components i.e radio/ac/ heaters etc?

    cheers

The surround is just a cover but the stereo and heaters are a complete unit. If you change the stereo both cars will need to go into vauxhall first

As I said above they are complete units, the fronts aren't designed to come off them but as with any form of production they were seperated at some point......

The radios need "divorcing" from the cars they come from first via tech2

In essence yeah, but if they are the same CD player / heater units then he can simply just switch over the plastic fascias.
