    Sky + HD X2

I've got sky hd for my tv and after my old man recently bought himself a hd tv he wants to upgrade to sky hd too. He rang sky today to upgrade but they want £200 for the hd box as were not able to have deals as we already have my box..

What im wondering is... Has anyone on here managed to blag a second box out of sky by threatning to leave them and go else where or other ways?? if so, what did u do and did it work??

    Cheers

    Matt

What I did is tell them I'm leaving. I did, and got Virgin instead. Personally, I think it was the right thing to do!

ahhh damn. Cos i phoned sky to get a 3rd box installed and upgrade my 2 current ones to sky plus. they said its a 3 month waiting list, so I said cancel it then. Virgin came round in 2 days and fitted 3 virgin HD+ boxes!

Virgin is the same mate. It will be pretty hard to get a 2nd free HD box from them.

Althou Virgin now offer 2 different HD boxes. V HD or V+ HD(this has recording)

So unless sky start to offer a box with out the recording feature you will have to pay full price for it.

Virgin HD has hardly any channels on it. The On Demand features are excellent but you're getting an HD box to make the most of your HD telly, and considering they're charging a premium for it, they are ripping people off by offering a paltry number of channels with their top of the range box.

    Virgin HD

    ON THEIR WAY
STV HD (June - Scotland only)
    Film4 HD (July)

HD channels rumoured as "coming soon"
Sky 1, Sky Sports, Sky Movies, History, Food Network, Bio, Bravo, Virgin1

I have the XL package with them, so no extra charge for the HD channels. I you have all; the channels with Sky you still have to pay an extra charge for the HD channels. And its and extra charge per box, not per house. So all in all not bad with virgin if you are gonna get the XL set..

ATM, I have 3 V+ HD boxes, XL tv with movies and sports, 10mb broadband and their cheapest phone line for £90 a month. Not bad considering Sky BB round here is crap, and if i had 3 sky HD boxes with all the same it would cost me more that £90 just on that!
