spark plugs + loads o oil = rocker gasket?

    as title says...

could THIS be the main reason i have the smoke issues?

just strated to strip down the car to replace the rocker cover gasket and when taking coilpack out i was greeted with four spark plug colums full of oil

i mean tottaly drenched in the stuff!

could this somehow be getting through to the exhaust and thats whats causing my smoke issues?

this is only stage one of the inverstigations mind as i aint had the chance to get the turbo off yet

thought i would start with the easy bits first

I would def think you need a new rocker cover gasket. That happens alot with vauxhalls i think.

Id clean out the spark plug holes, replace the rocker cover gasket then do a few miles to see if it solves the problem.

    doneded..

shead loads o smoke on idle ( to be expected i guess ) took it along the road and it gives plumes of smoke on boost.. and i doo mean plumes!

would i be correct in thinking this could be the oil that dropped in through the spark plugs when i removed them? and if so how long will that take to burn off.?

taking the car a dive unfortunatly cant happen due to it being sorned the now. but im looking to get it MOT'd next week so it will get a drive then

tbh i could see much wrong with the old garket but i know its never been done by me and ive had it 5 years, along with it being taken off to do the X20XE cam ( new gasket wasnt fitted ) so i hope this solves the issues..

If the spark plug chambers were full of oil then what was there would have then dropped into the cylinder, as such will take a bit to burn off, best left on idle for a good while and a few runs back and forward to try and clear it out.
