    shocked at thermostat price!!!!!

today i'm changing the thermostat on my astra, now normally i use vauxhall for parts as i believe you cant beat genuine parts for quality and in fairness they're reasonably priced.

Today i rang them for a price on the required part and they quoted me £42.22 plus VAT.

I rang andrew page motor factors and they quoted me £12.56 plus VAT.

Vauxhall have let me down in terms of pricing, and i'm not best pleased!!

Trade Club prices are better mind...and for a thermostat which I want to last for years, I'd buy the Vauxhall one.

Yeah thermostats from my local andrew page to me are: £6.63 for just the element, sealant etc.

They also sell it with the housing for £19.98!

I opted for a low temp one from ebay!

I bought a pattern thermostat for my 1.7dti for 1/2 vaux price. Had to replace it after 6 months because it had failed. Genuine vaux part works fine so...........the cheap one worked out dearer over all!!

Cant find stats in the TC book or on the website... May get just trade price but I paid 45 or so for mine including the housing...

I've just spoken to Vauxhall Andover and they have quoted 42.22 inc vat. I'm gonna go genuine as it needs to be done. Best to do it once properly that keep doing it.
