    Astra 2.0 Coupe Turbo Questions

    Hi guys,

Looking at trading down from my Focus ST to a 2.0 Coupe Turbo. Can anyone tell me what to look for on these? Common problems etc? What sort of power will a remap achieve on these with standard turbo and with vxr replacement turbo?

    Thanks alot,

    Russ

The websites below tell you what power you'll get when running different setups. With most of the VXR hardware (injectors/turbo/afm) and large intercooler you can hit 300 or more. Depends how much money you want to put into it mate and try buy a pre tuned one as there's a fair few forsale.

300 would be nice. That would give it similar power to my ST in what i presume is a lighter car. What sort of price should i be looking to pay for a coupe not necersarily tuned to 300bhp but mildly tuned?

It varies loads mate, depends on mileage condition etc. just make sure you don't buy one with a knakered turbo as you don't want that to be the first thing you replace.

The expensive parts would be the turbo, mapping and intercooler as the other bits are sold on here a lot. You can get loads more power like some of the lads on here but then your talking some serious money.

I wanted a coupe turbo as they are pretty light but the convertible turned up pretty cheap so couldn't turn it down but bit gutted about the extra 200kg lol.

Lol. Well sometimes its worth a slight sacrifice if your getting a bargain. Nice for summer non the less anyway.

Yeah to be honest ill prob look for one thats had the turbo replaced already with an invoice as proof. Is the cambelt interval 4 or 5 years do you know?

Think its 60k or 5 years but i always get it changed on any car i buy as its well worth the money.

If you get a nice car come up and your not sure about the turbo, you can always use it as a bargaining tool.

even a mapped ph2 would be on par with a st, power delivery would be different, there are more tuning options on these engines and are cheaper than the ford options.

Thanks for the replies guys. Been a big help.

No doubt ill be along soon asking more questions once ive sold my ST (Fingers crossed the viewing tonight will come good).

Ive just been looking at the bolt on bits and can see how cheaply big power can be had on these engines, especially using second hand parts.

Thanks for confirming that for me Gary.

Im just looking around at the Astras on the usual places (Piston heads, auto trader & ebay) and to be honest there seems to be ALOT of shit about, any suggestions where i may find a tidy one? The decent ones on here have pretty much all sold.
