Oil light has just come on

    Hi guys,

Its a 2.2 coupe. 69k. Went to Alton towers yesterday and did 150 mile round trip. When I got home it flickered when I turned ignition on. It did the same this morning and then went off as I was driving. Oil is a smidge under the max.

    Can anybody help meee? :/

    Thanks,

    Dazz

    Thanks Paula

I've just had a look at the dipstick and I think it's on MIN. The oil goes up the side of the dipstick but it looks low.

Should I top it up for now? Until I can get my car in for a service?

Has anyone got a picture to hand of what a MAX dipstick should look like??

    Thanks

    Dazz

EDIT: And how much engine oil do you think i should put in for the time being? Will a litre be enough? ( 1.0 Litre ) Grade too?

    Thank you,

The light is on but only very very very faint. Then when I turn it over, it goes. Electrical fault?

check the oil pressure switch. the oil light is for oil pressure, not oil level. the pressure switch could be leaking and you will have a bit of oil around the crankshaft pulley and on the chassis leg

I would start with doing an oil/oil filter change.

A few weeks ago my Astra oil warning light would flicker sometimes. An oil and filter change sorted it.
