    Post peddle test

    hi there new to all this and am having problems with my 2001 1.8 sri read about people doing the peddle test just wondering how do i do this thanks

    not sure you can do this on the mk4? Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

    On the MK5 you press and hold the brake and accelerator pedals with the ignition off then turn the key till the lights come one.

    The display will then cycle through error codes as found in this thread:

    thanks tried the test but no codes came up? did notice the little car with the spanner through it was flashing on the dash? does this mean the pedal test doesnt work on my car cheers

    that is what you count, the spanner light and number of flashes betwwen each pause

    basically all those codes point to air flow meter fault

    right i noticed there is a k&n pannel filter in there would this be causing the problem if not what should i do to solve it oh and thanks for your help

    No - this shouldn't cause any problems.

    I havent worked out the codes but if the poster above is correct you need a new AFM which you can get 2nd hand or new from vauhall. Then the codes need to be reset. IIRC you can disconnect the battery for 10mins to clear? Otherwise you'll need someone with Tech 2/OBD reader to clear them for you
