    which astra to get?

Im getting bored of vectra ownership now and im looking to get myself back into an astra. not totally sure which i want to go for. im between a mk4 gsi/sri t or a mk5 sri t 200.

whichever i buy will be getting modded as it will be a weekend toy. i have a works van to use for the daily commute so the astra will be pretty pampered and modded by the time im finished with it.

which is why i dont know what to get, for the price of a decent gsi i could get a newer mk5 sri turbo. how moddable is the mk5? im assuming vxr parts could transfer over onto it without too much hassle? what would be your advice on this one? i have no preference between either of the 3 cars i am looking at only thing i am thinking is the mk5 is newer for similar money.

seen a few kicking about that are claiming 280bhp, what is needed to be done to achieve that? how much would need to be spent to get that sort of figure? how far can they be taken and still be reliable? how much can the clutch and gearbox take?

cool thanks for that. how much would i be looking at spending to get those figures? i would be doing most of the work myself as im a mechanic to trade and have a garage full of tools.

Perhaps I'me abit biased, but what about a Mk3 GSI or mk3 GSi turbo, just for the old skool about it all. You dont see many clean examples of them on the roads anymore
Probably the ONLY Astra Mk3 sitting on Corsa D SXI rims!
And Now a Diesel on Discs all round!

You get get 250 out of a gsi or a sri in a morning. Slap a precat pipe on and a cat back system, airfilter and a good map and you will be close to 250 easy.

If I was you I would go for a Sri Turbo but then I am biased LOL
