Hi all, i first noticed this problem about a year ago when i first brought my car but seems to have got worse recently. my car is a 2003 astra 2.0 DTI 16v.
Basicaly my steering wheel keeps going stiff, specialy when i pull into a petrol station and then try and steer left/right to go to a pump its like the power steering switches off. Also if i try to do a 3-point turn all of a sudden it will get stiff if i suddenly turn it. today again before filling up on the way to work i rocked the steering left and right while i was stationery with the car still on and it was as if it was a non power steering car but after filling up and turning back on it was ok.
i also notice when i turn on bends, specialy ones bearing to the right, the steering seems to judder and i end up fighting with it to stay in line while turning. i thought maybe its the tyres but the tyres are not worn.
Before i bore you further the last thing i have noticed which may not actualy be a problem but rather a question is when i slightly turn the steering wheel left/right while stationery i can hear this hissing sound coming from the steering and when i listen closely its as if its liquid running through it but only when i turn the wheel, is this normal?
thanks guys in advance and sorry for the esay.
