    Stripped Thread

Got a stripped thread on one of the exhaust manifold holes (top left). Can I just stick an M8 helicoil in there or would i need to drill out a bigger hole/tap a bigger thread/bigger bolt?

    Thanks

if its m8 as standard, then to use a m8 helicoil you need to drill out to the correct tapping size for an m8 insert.

As the hole still has some thread in it, can I just insert the helicoil without having to drill and tap it?

Dont really want to take the head off again and buy new bolts and that!!

As above...to fit an m8 helicoil you need to drill out the hole larger to fit the helicoil.....can you not just use a thread chaser to tidy up the threads?
