    cam tensioner fluctuation / P0340 ????????

i have a fault code of P0340. i have since changed the cam sensor and had the wiring tested. both are ok. i have since been told that the tension in the cam belt can result in a code of P0340. i have noticed that if i am using a spanner to turn the crank my tensioner moves from new to old repeatedly. i set the tensioner to new and checked my timing and turned the engine slowly and it still does it is this normal. is there anything else that could cause my cam sensor to be malfunctioning. i have also check my crank sensor and all seems well with that.. any help would be amazing

The tensioner shouldn't move position at all, the tension should be steady, when was the cambelt/tensioner last done?

the engine runs smoothly on idle but with eml on driving is lumpy with no power and no rev range. done a diagnostics and is readin cam sensorP0340 i have replaced this witha genuine vx part and had the wiring tested back to the ecu. i have also checked and tested the crank sensor as someone said that th x20xev were prone to readin cam sensor bur it being the crank that was faulty. i only checked the belt cos someone told me the tension in the belt could directly affect the cam sensor

Yes this is normal the tensioner is automatic so will move. When the belt has been fitted if the tension is set to the new mark then it is tensioned ok. This must be done with the marks aligned
