mk4 backbox - how to replace?

    hi ,

got hold of a new back box and wanted to change it from the old one, it is a z16xe engine and at the back its a flange fitment i think with the 2 hook like things.

basically what tools do i need to do this and is there any way around it without putting it on a ramp as i dont have one!

    cheers

You can usually change the backbox with it just on the ground, not much clearance but as long as you can un-do all the bolts easily enough then its pretty simple...

I got one of these kits when I did mine...

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/astra-mk4-exha...item1e5b3e6cc9

The gasket will almost certainly have perished if you need a new back box and these are pretty cheap, also the bolts will likely need to be replaced so good all round, n.b. if its an aftermarket back box then the bolts likely wont fit...

You may need new rubbers too depending on what condition yours are in... Have a look on ebay for "astra exhaust kit"....
N.b. any opinitons expressed above should be ignored and considered 'ramblings', under no circumstances should they be relied upon...
