    steering wheel badge

    Hi all,
Im thinking of changing my steering wheel badge from a holden to an opel one. Is it possible to change it without activating the airbag and how would you replace it?

    Thanks
    Wisam

De-energise the airbag by switching it off and then you can fiddle about with out activating the airbag

    You fit a Holden airbag.
The badges/airbag covers are not designed to be stripped down/rebuilt safely.

knife under the badge and take it off, do not puncture the airbag or cover otherwise replace it.
Then use a 54mm opel badge (wheel cap size), cut out a black plastic folder for backing and stick it in place.

end result should come out like mine below.

04 Astra Sri - Silver - Full red leather interior - Star light roof lining - 888 wheels - lowered - ice - exhaust - quite a few other little things.

I wouldn't reccomend doing this, if the airbag deployed in an accident you could have an unsecured badge travelling towards your face at a very high speed.
Airbags are not toys, don't mess with them.

if the opel blitz hits you sideways on the forehead you could end up looking like harry potter.

At the time when i did this there was no one willing to ship me a genuine opel airbag to Australia. If I were to do it now though I would get a whole unit as they are not that expensive even when including shipping.

purchased from a member off here a little while back. Its out of a Linea Rossa Astra so it comes with the red leather and stitching.
