    isuzu?

    thinking of buying vauxhall astra diesel (1.7 ) seen adds saying isuzu engine are they better or just the same as gm engines are they the ones with ecotec on them?

    Isuzu are excellent engines

    what year we talking about as different engines were used on different models etc

    Izuzu is the 16v. Vauxhall is 8v. There is other changes aswell. I thought only the 2.0l had ecotec written on them?

    depends what model and year - we still havent established what Astra it is yet let alone which Isuzu variant

    in that case its the Y17DT as pictured above

    great engine......but unfortunately can be quite troublesome in some areas

    main one being the EDU (Diesel pump ECU)

    when this goes faulty it tends to throw up a multitude of fault codes and a lot of ppl (dealers and garages etc) tend to replace the entire fuel pump (£800+) when usually the EDU can be repaired/replaced for anything from £50 upwards

    apart from that, no huge problems that im aware of - having said that, Ive only had the Y17DTL (same engine as above - just minus the intercooler) for 2mths now
