Why does my central locking do this?

Basically, car is unlocked. Press lock button on key fob and car locks, but if i press it again it makes a sound and the lights flash but nothing seems to have happened.
Is it just like a glitch from pressing the lock button a second time?

i think they call it deadlocking, basically if you get in the car and do it, u cant open the doors, but it u press it once u can open the doors from the inside! i think thats what it is mate, your car a mk5??

I think the second one arms the alarm.

The mk4 comes with a deadlock also.

If you press it once, the car locks, if someone smashes window their can open door from inside.

if you press it twice it deadlocks the car - if someone smashes window it can not be open by using the internal handle.

the only way to undo deadlocks is with the key.

Have a play around with it, sit in the car and dead lock it, you will not be able to open it from the inside

    Oh right cool.
Thats good, what i normally do is press the lock twice just out of habit anyway and i think, 'its twice as locked now' as i walk away lol. Didnt know it actually did anything though, thought it was just the motors jamming or something.
