    Volt Gauge Wiring

Hi, this is gonna sound a really silly question but here goes.
I have a volt gauge with red, black and yellow wires coming from it. I was going to connect it up to the cig lighter.

    Do I,

    1. red/red, black/black, yellow/yellow

    or

    2.red/black, black/red, yellow/yellow

a silly question i know but just want to be 100% before i do it, as i dont really know that much about electrics.

    Hope someone can help thanks

Is there even a red wire down at the ciggy lighter?

It's where i'd wire it up but i'd do as follows:

    Red - Black
    Black - Brown
    Yellow - Grey/Yellow
