So does Super Unleaded make F all difference?

This has probably been asked before.
In the last week ive been only putting in super unleaded from Texaco, this is the first time i think i have ever bought SU.
Its only a 1.4 16v 5 door mk 4 hatch, am i wasting money buying this stuff or does it benefit, such as better MPG according to what my mate said.

It makes a difference on high performance engine's and also Japanese import cars, whether standard or modified.

It kind of pointless running it on standard small engines but some do 'feel' it makes a difference.

main thing is it burns more efficiently so it stops pinking under load. some engines get better mileage, but its only by about 25 or 30 miles to a tank more efficient. wont give you any more power though. just burns better

The difference is the Octane. The octane is a way of describing how much the fuel can be compressed before it self-ignites.
High performance cars, such as lambo's, ferrari's or other turbo cars in generals need to use high octane fuel because of the high compression ratio of the engine.

It all depends on how your engine is tuned, if its tuned so that it runs properly on standard unleaded you won't see much, if any difference on premium...when I start work and actually have some money I might put a tank of it in the Astra and see how it goes, but I'm assuming its going to be pretty much the same as it runs on standard unleaded. Its really only worth it if your car if your car is tuned to run on higher octane fuel, or if like others said, you have a high performance car that needs it.

you would have to go through atleast 2 tanks before any real difference is felt so that way the car gets used to the igher octane and uses it more efficiently... ive tried this with my 1.8 and only used super unleaded (shell v power) since the start of the year and i get 60 more miles to a tank and i feel it respondes better when you have a heavy foot
