    What's this noise? (video inside)

    My car makes this stupid chirpping noise on idle and pulling away from parked.

    Mostly when cold and when you gentley use the throttle. It does do it when the car is warmed up on idle but not as much or loud.

    Anyway here's the vid. You can hear it at the start of the rev then dies out as the rev gets higher.

    I can't open the bonnet as the pull is ****ed and i'm trying to figure out how to open it without smashing out the grill.

    That'll be your manifold.

    Check tho bolts are tight, or you may have a snapped bolt or cracked manifold

    Usually the 2 near the thermostat are slighly loose or broken in the head!!

    As for the bonnet just get a pair of pliers on the cable inside then you may need to get someone to tap the bonnet if the cables stretched

    That sux!

    Is the manifold joined on to the turbo or are they seperate? Or are you on about the inlet manifold?(hope so)

    Would a cracked manifold make a difference to the way the car runs?

    I've yanked the cable with pliers but not tried anyone on the bonnet. Will do that.

    Exhaust manifold mate, try tightening the bolts first, like you say it gets quieter because it heats up.

    It has 2 parts to it. look for a shagged turbo on ebay and use you turbo with it.

    Kool mate.

    It's done this since i got it but i just thought it was a heatshield or something.

    I bet the last owner knew it was cracked.

    i have the same noise from cold and goes on warm up and its def the manifold nuts loose AGAIN washer plate must be on there for a reason coz this is the 2nd time

    Possibly, mine did it and so did my mates vxr, i just replaced his under warranty and pinched his one that needed tightening for mine so we were both happy lol.

    Easy job to tighten the bolts?

    Can you do it without taking other bits out or sticking it on a ramp?

    Cars are a nightmare!!

    Yeah mate the two u need you can get on (the usual ones that go)

    Just look at the turbo and its the 2 on the left of the manifold
