    New iMac

    Hey guys,

Just looking for some helpful pointers really.

Just bought myself the new iMac as I hear the Mac's are good for photos etc etc.

So got it today, not used a mac before, so if anyone has tips, tricks or even general reviews of the OS X software..

    Thanks in advance

What exactly are you trying to do? "good with photos" seems to be a bit of a vague reason to buy an imac and it would take a lot more than this for me to spend that sort of cash on a computer.

Our home is a Microsoft free zone - Macs only. We converted some years ago & would NEVER go back. I have to use a PC at work though & hate it compared to my Mac. Mac's are a far more nicer machine to use, performance never drops off & they don't go wrong. Current count here is 3.

Bubba, i use constantly photo editing software and 3D manipulation software all the time sometimes at the same time.

In my spare time i tend to do a bit of music and people recommended it so i got myself one

John, do you have any tips, i'm still trying to get used to the whole way of installing programs and getting rid of them

Steve, I'm not one of those who wants to know how computers work. I just want it to do what I want it to do for the entertainment of it. That's one of the main reasons I don't like Microsoft. They're so difficult in comparison to Mac's.

If there's anything specific you want to know ask away but it's unlikely I'll know the answer. I've worked for a Graphic Design company & now a Printers. Both these trades will only use Mac's. Also my lad is a well known DJ so does loads with music which he'll only use a Mac for. AFAIK PC's come into their own when it comes to gaming. I'm not a Gamer so I've no use for one.

    You're mixing yourself here.

PC's don't mean Microsoft. What you mean is you'd never go back to Windows - there's a difference.

Ironically, the best machines to run Windows on (XP, Vista & 7) are Macbooks. The best machines to run Linux and Unix-based OS's are PC's.
