ok by request, a how to. . .

so i came out this morning, suns out, roof needs to go down . . . . .
    wouldnt move just kept beeping.
    first open all the windows
locate the lug in the middle, just above the mirror.

remove it and insert an allen key, ( i have the attachment on the screwdriver as its easier)

it takes about two or three mins to completely undo it!

    should be like this

next is to open the boot. you may need to use the key. once open on the left hand side your looking for this.

you need to push it towards the fron of the car. i used a screw driver to hold it foward so i can shut the boot.
you need to push the front of the hood up. whilst pulling the back up.

if you pushed the lever far enough foward you will be able to lift the black cover up.

once its up you push the glass section back down. then the roof will start to fold back
( you will need to hold the back cover up whist doing this.)

once its all folded in, insert your allen key, and wind it back up.

once done, let the black lid go down slowly.
it wont lock shut so dont worry
open the boot and take out the screw driver if you used it to hold the lever, shut the boot.
get in the car, ignition on. at this point mine bleeped like mad!!
press the hood down button. you should hear the lid lock shut. then put the roof back up.
    hopefully it all works

took me around 20 mins to do it on my own.

    hello
i made mistake in photo 8 "once its all folded in, insert your allen key, and wind it back up."
I shot the screw in the opposite direction in which they should be circulating. Now the roof did not want to open (when I close it look like on photo 3) and close (
does not close the roof hatch, when roof is inside trunk) to the end.seems sound jumping Transmission Gears. HELP(((((((

Hi there, I have an Astra 2.2 convertable (Bertone) and my electric roof will not open when I first get in the car, it just makes a beeping sound. If I drive about a mile down the road and try again, it then opens, getting fed up with it, any ideas????

our second caby had the same problem some times it would open some times not

fault was the wireing harnes in the boot between the boot lid and the main car harness
there is a socket and the wires brake there also the ground wire brakes

extended the loom and fitted the socket and the roof works perfect

this is a common fault on all cars with a harnes connecting the boot the the main harness we have 2 cabbys and both have had the cable brake

will 2nd that about the loom as mines knackered , but i have also lost the use of the middle brake light and the central locking on boot has gone

will have to see if my roof still works this weekend if not i have all the bits for extending/ resoldering the wires
