    Anyone do any martial arts?

I'm finally nailing down my 2.5 years of random boxing training into a martial art.

The aim is to be good enough to hold my own in Thailand in November when I spend a week training there. I started last week preparing myself for Todays lesson.

So I am starting of with Muay Thai for the striking and conditioning. I'm not going to start competing but will definitely take part in sparring.

If the trainer says I'm crap, I'll leave and wont go Thailand.

If I become good over the next few months after Thailand I am going to branch into BJJ.

My prep work was mad, was hurting most of last week.

I have to say I absolutely love kettle bells now though, its like where have they been my entire life?

I am 94KG which puts me at the bottom of the heavyweights. Loose 1kg and I'll be a top Light Heavyweight.

Not sure what to expect but my trainer is well respected and has been doing it for 15 years!

I did Tae Kwon Do for a few years, lost interest though. I'd like to try MMA or Mauy Thai.

I went Judo for about 3/4 years when I was studying, then I went to work full time and couldn't make it to the training sessions.

Is a shame because I loved it!

I did start kick boxing a few weeks back but that along with gym 4-5 times a week plus car running costs is getting a bit expensive for me each lesson. Leaving it a month or two until I get some money back in then get back into it.

Jiu Jitsu, 3 styles over about 15 years (some local club when I was a teenager, rubbish, then onto The Jitsu Foundation, better but a tad fake, then finally Hokutou Ryu in Newcastle up until 3 years ago which was outstanding), however only trained for 5 of those 15. Ended up Purple belt with TJF and Purple again with HRJJ. If it wasn't such a trek to HRJJ I'd be back in a heartbeat, loved it.

No local JiuJitsu clubs come close to what I want from a martial art.
