sit in the car, feet on the brake and accelerator then turn the key to the 2nd click, and count how many times the light flashes, etc 0123...0=10 flashes - 1 = 1 flash - 2= 2 flashes etc etc there'll be a pause inbetween each lot of flashes.

Oooh the paperclip, is that the one were you short something out, yes I have had the fault light come on we did get the fault read and it was the egr and was told it would need updating by basically cutting the egr valve ??? but I just wanted to look into it first but forgot what the fault number was so wanted to do a pedal test, but now I think it is p0400

    P0400 is EGR flow malfunctioning.

You can get the EGR blanked which is where you cut for example a coke can to the shape of your egr valve. Which bypasses it.

I would say its better just to replace the EGR valve with a genuine delphi one. Dont buy the cheaper ones as they cause more problems then the old valve will.

EGR valves are temperental anyway as carbon builds up in them which can cause them to malfuction. Try cleaning it out first and take it for a good run, giving it a bit of revving now and then to build up the temperature so these deposits will burn off.

you have to get to the diagnostic plug under the handbrake, then stretch a paper clip and stick one end in one part and the other in another, just cant remember where
