Angry Please Help; Loud startup and high revs when cold

My car is still sounding like theres a tapping or like a diesel, but only when cold. Plus when i start the car when the engine is cold the revs hit 2000rpm stay there for about 2 secs and drop.. and during the time it revs when it starts up there is a loud tapping or sounding like a van.

However when i turned the car off, i waited a few seconds, re started it while still warm but it only hits 1000rpm then idles just around there and there is hardly any tapping on startup when warm, literally barely anything!

Why is it doing it when cold?? What are these symptoms

mine does this aswell, could be tappet's, possibly cracked manifold or sheared manifold stud. try an engine flush like forte first next time you change the oil.

I don't think its the manifold otherwise it would be blowing. Maybe the oil just has not circulated yet when cold n thats why.. hmm. I will try get a vid of the noise sometime

Does the tapping increase with higher engine revs?.

Also, you sure its coming from the engine. Check its not tapping at the back of the airbox.

It used to tap more with more revs but now only taps when engines cold.. i hit 6000rpm in 2nd and sounds fine when warm.

Why would it be tapping at the back of the airbox and how would i stop this? Sound is coming from the back of the engine

Theres a charcoal carbon cannister at the back of the airbox with a solenoid valve fitted to it that has been known to tick or cause a tapping but if its coming from engine then it could be tappets.

Do you have an oil light on?. Could try an oil pressure check to check that theres correct amount of pressure to get the oil to the top of the engine, and that also its working correctly when cold.

Nah the oil light doesnt come on since i done the oil n filter change. My crankshaft oil seal is leaking though which is being done next week. That can't be causing it though can it?

    No it wont be.

Best bet is to get someone to have a look at it. Could be a number of things, like b1998m said it could also be your manifold as that will tap when gases are blowing through it.

Get it looked at mate, without seeing the car its really hard to diagnose .
