can you over take emergency vehicles....

never really thought of this before but, (and dont count police cars because if they are poodling along lane 1 or 2 with their lights on, that normally means they are doing a rolling block) driving home this evening, an ambulance pulled out from the slip road into lane 1 (dual carriageway) and was only doing around 50mph. (ambulance didnt get above 60mph) I'm behind a car in lane 2 doing the speed limit when he stands on his anchors and slows down as to not over take the ambulance.

Now the road is fairly striaight so could see for some distance in front of us and knew the ambulance wasnt going to pull into lane 2 to over take anyone. Eventually the car in front decides to go past.

so can you over take emergency vehicles when they have their lights on???

    what's your opinions???

pretty sure you can even with their lights on as long as you dont break the speed limit

You can if they're not doing the speed limit. No law against it.

Ambulances transport patients that can be in life threatening conditions that can not be shaken or moved much. So the driver will take their time and make sure the cargo get to the destination safely.

    Just overtake them as normal.

I overtake ambulances, so long as you dont slow them down there isn't an issue.
