    head gasket gone ???

    hi im 99% that my head gaskets gone today . it started last week my car started kangarooing and lost all power but got it home left it over night and its been ok since. anyway drove it today everything was great then the kangarooing started again so i had to try and get it home but only this time it was alot worse i lost nearly all power and it wouldnt go over 5mph. looked under the bonnent theres white sludge under the oil cap but none on the oil stick, the ex is smoking alot and engine is nearly packing in when started. its not been a really good day

    whats best to do now
    new engine ?
    new headgasket?

    would be really grateful if someone could give me a bit of advice

    get a sniffer test and compression test done

    what engine we talking about anyway??? if its 8v then may just be the usual hellmans factory engine

    smoke or steam out the exhaust?

    first step though has to be the compression and sniffer test to check for signs of HGF etc

    its a 1.6 8v mate and its white smoke cumin out the exhaust
    whats a compressiona nd sniffer test ?
    how much will that cost thanks dean
