    grinding noise when braking hard

    my astra sometimes makes a loud grinding noise when i brake hard the pads are fine and i was told it could be the anti roll bar linkage as it had a bit of play but i have changed this an has no effect it only seems to happen when i brake hard a few time in quick succesion anyone got any ideas

    Rear drums?
    Replacing front brake disks and shoes cured my grind noise though.

    Could be the discs. Run your nail down the disc and if it's pitted then they need changing.

    sorry should have said its coming from the front drivers side and the disks seem fine to so im a bit confused as to wot it could be

    does it happen when turning aswell? Any feelings through the wheel? Thinking it could be bearings

    when its been a really cold night it happens on full lock when im pulling of my drive but other than that no just when braking hard i was also told it cud be a cv joint but isnt that more of a clicking noise

    Have you had the pads checked I assume? They have a wear indicator on which basically grinds on the disc so you can hear when the pad needs changed.
