How often do you watch TV?

After reading a post about the Tv licence it got me thinking about how much people watch TV now.

We (I) usually have it on for 1/2 hour in the morning for the local news/weather and maybe an hour at night if there is anything specific we want to watch.

My wife hardly ever watch's TV and I do now and again but use the 'On demand' services like 'iPlayer' or the Virgin one as normally I am busy when anything is aired or didnt know it was on till someone talked about it so its easier to just select it at my leisure.
The truth is always the truth even if you haven't realised it yet...

Normally watch 30mins or so to wake me up in morning, but thats about it.

TV just gets used for xbox/dvd's, unless i'm flicking through the film channels and something good is on I rarely watch it.

You will not get a true representation in this poll.

Those that watch on demand service - do watch TV, you dont watch it at the time its aired, you may watch it on a PC monitor but you are still watching TV.

Watching films - you are still watching TV

Playing games - arguably still watching the TV

Lastly the TV is generally on in our house from 7pm till 1pm every night and on a lot of Sunday. However its usually on for back gorund music or one of the above and every time we either have paper work, magazines, books, or laptops in front of us doing work.

So how can you define how much TV you watch?

Usually only 20 minutes at night eating my dinner and before I go to bed again so about 40 minutes a day, some times if I wake up early I will stick it on for 20 minutes or if I am really bored but try not to watch too much TV, feels like I am wasting time.

As above, it's usually background noise for me. Although I'll obviously watch it if something that interests me is on at the time.

Broadcast TV is not the communal activity it used to be, not with all the on demand alternatives on offer these days. And you know what... I'm not sure it's better either. There used to be a time when the whole family would sit around the TV watching that Christmas special or sporting event, all laughing together and enjoying the entertainment and each others company. Not so much these days

Sorry to go off at a tangent
