Anyone here in the Royal Navy? not the marines but the Navy... even submariners?
Just wanting to pick your brains
I know quite a few if that helps, sub and surface
6 hours on 6 hours off! Away at sea 3 months at a time and sometimes longer, if you have a family its reali shit!
"Its not weather you get knocked down, its weather you get back up"
It all depends on the type of boat.
If you go for Vanguard class, they go to sea for 3-4 months (maybe more) at a time, no shore leave, and just go back to Faslane again.
When my ex was on HMS Trafalgar, he got 3 weeks in the USA, and Hong Kong.
Within the boat - you have to triple bunk (Timeshare a bunk, you get 8 hours each), its very cramped, the air and water is recycled, and there are no windows You can't shave (or you werent used to, might have changed now), and its not very hygienic, as you can imagine with a load of men in cramped conditions.
Put you off yet?
