    My clutch has gone :-(

Was driving my 1.8 astra coupe earlier and next thing i know the clutch started slipping a little and then next thing i know wouldnt go into gear at all.

I had to change gear by revving high then changing gear and crawled home in 2nd gear.

Lets say im pretty gutted as ive only just started a new job and dont get paid till thursday.

Just wondering how much roughly a new clutch will set me back and how much generally is labour costs to fit a new clutch?

    One thing to check mate

Check the hydraulic clutch line going into the top of the gearbox, see if there is any fluid or anything coming out, if there is, chances are the clutch pipe seal has failed, and they're only £2. If it slowly started failing, then there wouldn't be adequate pressure to engage the clutch and gearbox hence the slipping and then not engaging at all. Does the pedal go down to the floor really easily?

Thats one way to go about it mate.

Or just take the whole engine out over the top, Easy enough and you aren't really restricted to working in the engine bay either

Ill check it in a minute, yeh the pedal goes straight to the floor but comes back up and dosent stay right to the floor, there is no pressure at all on the clutch pedal.

Easy way to check aswell if its loosing pressure, check your brake fluid level see if it has dropped, as the hydraulic clutch has a feed coming from the brake reservoir.

But yeah the pipe is just ontop of the gearbox, just to the left of the battery tray
