    timing belt tensioner almost rounded off

    help

    its a t40 hex key. how do i get the tensioner off now. its very tight????

    astra G mk4 1.6 16v

    thankx Bobber problem is i dont have the next size up,,

    would this work. say i grinded its head off, then release the tensioner cos the head is ground off. then remove the timing belt, then pull out the timing belt tensioner. this should leave me with the shaft of the t40 nut, then i hammer a socket onto it. or use 2 nuts on the shaft if you see wre im going with this .....

    Put the t40 in place,give it a shock with a hammer,try and keep square and undo,if no joy either cut a section into the head and chiesel off as one unit,if all else fails you gotta cut the head off like you said

    i am haveing problem with my tensioner to any help would be great, i am on the rebuild part now i am trying to fit a new tensioner on my 1994 2.0i but when i try to lock the spring back in place with the securing bolt in the middle it does not lock and the springc omes open again any idea? thanks, i must be doing sopmthing wrong but i dont know what!!!

    just grind the head off . i did it on my 1.4 16 v and i used my hand to remove the remainder of the bolt after the tensioner was removed .. very easy .
