Okay so i was doing a 250 mile journey yesterday, 125 there 125 back.
Half way there a light came on the dash (car with spanner through it)
The cars performance did not change at all and nothing sounded rough or anything so i thought maybe a faulty light/switch nothing to worry about for now.
Got there, spent the day out, on the way home the car and spanner light was still on but now i noticed the red oil light flickering on, staying off then flickering on. Then after about 30 mins it stayed on continuely which was when i got worried.
So on the motorway i stopped off in the services and picked up a litre of oil as if it was flickering it must only need a little bit more to keep the light off for now. When i opened the oil cap there was a small bit of what looked like steam? coming out. I just figured that was normal as i had been doing 70mph down the motorway for a while.
Anyway, put the oil in, left it for 5 mins, started it up, oil light went out !
Drove out the petrol station onto the road leading back to the motorway, oil light came on again.
At this point i thought stuff it and got home fine with no trouble at all which starts to make me think why the hell are these lights on if im having no trouble?
This was yesterday this journey, now ive just this minute checked the oil level after it was left overnight, and it is perfectly fine!
I am really stumped?
Ive been told it could be a fault oil pressure switch, but would that trigure an engine fault light?
Anyone had this fault or can confirm a similar scenario and explain what the problem could be?
(Sorry for the explanation, tryed to keep it short and easy to read)
Thank you for anyone who takes their time to read this!
Help much appreciated
