    how know how???

    anyone know how big a job it is to change one on a mk5 1.7cdti? i have it in the boot, had a look for a how to, doesnt seem to be anything on here about how its done! if anyone knows then it would be great! thanks....

    ah what a knob!!!! ha ha ha, i posted it originally in the mk5 chassis section and didnt get a reply, title was changing front wheel bearing! decided after no replies id change the title not realising that info was vauge to say the least! my appologies,

    so if anyone knows how to CHANGE THE FRONT WHEEL BEARING! that would be great!

    You need to remove the hub

    The wheel bearing is part of the hub so you change the whole unit. I done mine only 3 weeks ago.

    Remove centre cap from wheel,
    Slacken off centre hub nut,
    Take wheel off car,
    Remove brake caliper and Disc,
    Remove lower ball joint,
    Fully remove centre hub nut previously slackend
    Knock splined shaft from the centre of the wheel hub.
    Remove 3 torx bolts from the rear of the hub,
    Remove hub,

    Replacement is basically the reversal of above. I dont think I missed anything out and hope it helps.

    i changed it yesterday after vauxhall informing me that it was at fault! the abs light is still on, will the code need clearing?? i tried disconnecting the battery for a good half hour but the light is still on. will it need resetting by vaux or should it of gone off on its own???

    Once the problem was sorted it should have put the light out I think.
