    First x18xe1 service, differences?

    When I had my x16szr I used to look forward to servicing it because it was so damn easy. Now I have just bought a CDX with what I believe to be a x18xe1 engine in, and am a bit stumped. Can someone help me?

    What size spanner is it that removes the filter housing? Is it 24mm? Times like this I miss the screw on canister!

    Do Halfords sell the O-ring for the filter housing?

    What size torx bit is it to undo the sump plug? My old car just used a normal nut.

    I think everything else (plugs, air filter etc) is pretty similar, although would love somebody to correct me if I'm wrong.

    Getting a lift to Halfords soon so a prompt reply would be fandabbydozy!

    Hey mate, servicing will be a breeze. your right on the socket for the filter housing-24mm the o-ring should come with the filter. sump plug is T45. if you know your way round your previous engine, this shouldn't be much different. good quality oil is the key, vx 10-40 semi syn or i use FUCHS titan xtr which seems good and needs very little topping up.

    Thanks ever so much mate. I know how to do it in theory, I've been digging around in the Haynes for the last half hour. I'm sure it will be easy, I just like to know exactly what I'm doing before I start a job. Thanks again!!!
