Removing Front Bumper on Astra MK4

    Hi Folks

Looking for some advice! My foglight on my Astra Mk4 is smashed, and I have bought a new one to replace it. I have tried for hours to remove the front bumper to do this, but no matter what I do, it is simply not going to come off!

The two bolts under each arch holding the bumper on refuse to turn. I've tried dousing them in WD40 and leaving them overnight and even for several weeks but they are stuck solid.

Any suggestions as to how I can get them off? I'm reluctant to put the car into a garage to have this done as I already have the fog light and can do the job for free myself!!

    Cheers
    Raymo

can you not get to it by jacking it up? if not i was shown that if you stick a torx bit into the screw, give it a few firm taps with a hammer and it should help loosen it up a bit. saw its your first post as well, welcome

    Thanks for the welcome

Not tried hitting it with a hammer yet - will give that a go when the rain goes off and see how I get on

    Cheers

I had this problem when I took mine off. The screws will no doubt be rusted into the holding clips.

If you have some spare screws you can hacksaw the heads off the ones stuck in, then the bumper will come off. Then you'll be able to get the screws out.
If you dont you could put a slice in the bumper bracket and prize it off over the top of the screw head.

Don't hacksaw the head off, drill it off, far easier, less damage to the surrounding area.

Hi - I am brand newto this forum, so forgive me if this is a stupid question. I have the same problem as outlined above - screws and holding clips rusted into one block. The question is - where do we get spare holding clips and screws? Is there a part number for these items? Is there a generic equivilent I could use? All advice gratefully accepted.
