    Z18XE Problems

    Hi,

I am just after a little brainstorming if possible please . I Own a garage and i had a 2006 Vauxhall Astra estate z18xe dropped into me with a snapped timing belt.

Now after the rebuild we have the car started and it is currently purring like a kitten at idle, except, There is a severe lack of power when in drive (automatic) and the engine will not exceed 4000rpm.

    Diagnostics show
P0335 - Crank Position Sensor and
P1700 - Transmission Control Module, MIL request - Malfunction

I have checked wiring etc following head rebuild and everything appears to be connected and in the correct place - i have also replaced both crank and cam position sensors and have also tried an AFM to no avail.

I am now at a loss! If i have missed anything out then ask me and i will answer as best i can.

    Cheers

    Not sure on P1700 myself....

Funny, had an engine replaced in a Z16XE with almost the same symptoms, hesitant and surgy acceleration and turns out the knock sensor is faulty, however I'd be curious on the P1700 code cause if anyone else can help.

remove the crank sensor and turn the crank pulley round with a spanner and look in the crank sensor hole to check that the reluctor, pulse pick up wheel for the crank sensor has not become damaged/distorted/missing teeth from the belt snapping

Check the timing and make sure the belt hasnt jumped a tooth.
The truth is always the truth even if you haven't realised it yet...
