Time to call it a day? And how do you split a car?

Okies, this 'new' engine is looking like a waste of time and money.

Been running badly since being fitted, tonight it threw the EML on with a knock sensor error which may explain this, then followed up with a high voltage error on the second lambda.

Sounds fine, switch to the knock sensor from my old engine, however the engine has used up most of its oil since Monday. Started to sound a little noisy on the way home tonight, then the oil light started flickering on a mile from home. Left it to stand for an hour and the dipstick was bone dry, not any oil to be seen.

Given the valve stem seals are likely shot what with the major blue smoke from start-up, I cannot see the sensible side of sorting it all out.

So, the likelihood is the end of **02 *** is nigh Annoyed and piddled off to say the least, but I knew any second hand engine was a gamble and may not pay off.

Which leads me to - how do you split a car? I obviously know the mechanics of taking bits off, but what do you do with the shell afterwards? There are a fair amount of parts worth selling on, wheels, interior, lights, blue LED parts etc etc, but once the sold parts have gone how do you dispose of what may be an un-rolling shell?

NRY best thing to do is strip what you want, gearbox, trims, interior, wheels, lights ect and then give your local scrapyard a call. Some may charge you for the collection, but that's the best way to go about it. Either that, or you can get a grinder out cut it to pieces :P OR keep the panels also and ebay them as people are always after panels, boot lids, bonnets ect.

Could be worth it Lee, if I had no sense I'd get the old engine put back in with new lifters, but I can'r really justify the cost as I've not paid for the 'new' engine parts etc to be fitted yet!

Well is there definately nothing financialy viable that can be done to salvage this venture in to the unkown for you?
Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, if he gets angry, he's a mile away and barefoot.
