Thumbs Up good map done from home

ive bought a galletto 1250 flash map system and a custom file from ebay for 60 quid
my mate owns a mk 4 astra sri turbo 190
we had the map wrote to take into account the full exhaust system and and induction kit
the car made 227 bhp and 241 lb.s torque
i will get the dyno sheet off him and post it
its a good piece of kit to buy and straight forward to read and write
if you are just wanting a lbit more power with out breaking the bank then this is £100 well spent just remember to save original file first

    Hmm, seems cost effective!

But... with even certain mainstream vauxhall tuners muckin up alot recently, who did the map for yours?

I tried to search for custom map file on ebay but nothing showed.

How reliable is this really going to be?

227 really aint that impressive if u have a full exhaust - are we talking full as in turbo back?

you can get upto 245 on a standard map with all the right hardware fitted but as long as ur happy then good

personally i'll be going to Courtenay for my remap but each to their own

After all the stories im hearing about tuning i think im going to stay well clear of getting my car mapped, be it by Courtenay sport or some mapping system off the net. Standard map ftw. lol.

generic maps are never the way to go in my opinion and there is some cracking read write stuff out there if you know what your doing ,
most people would be better off going to places that map rally cars and stuff as they tend to not be as single minded in their train of thought , they also tend to give you a better service and an individually written map that works for your car and not just let you drive out of the door hoping to god your fuel trim sorts all the wrong bits out , dont get me wrong the generic maps can be good and there is a load of hours going into there production but saying this map is for an air filter , 2.5 exhaust and front mount cooler does not always work . what if this fmic flows more than that one etc

i would like to see more diy mapping going on but at the moment there aint any programs out there that can steer you in the right direction

with the galletto 1250 system can you tweek the map at all ??
as for the 227 bhp i dont think thats bad really the rollers that it was done one maybe more likely to give a more accurate reading than ones that have been set up too give you a big smile (after you have just had your pants pulled down for a lot of money)

If you go independent mapping such as emerald, megasquirt etc, you can tweak it all, and get it how you want...BUT ....I'd say it was a steep learning curve !

There was the article on mapping in Total Vauxhall...

227 for a map on a Z20LET is pretty poor tbh.
