brake lights won't go off while driving????

    hi

last night driving my car i noticed all 3 brake lights were stuck on, i turned off the engine lights etc but to no avail so ended up driving home with people behind me flashing me every 5 minutes!

i've looked in the manual and there doesn't seem to be a fuse specifically for the brake lights so what do i do now??

how do i get the brake lights to go off?

Seem to remember my brother having a similar issue with his MK4 a couple of times, first time I think it was to do with the way a new bulb was put in (not 100% sure but thats what a garage told him). Second time not sure what cause was, but some sort of switch was replaced, so I assume its what Stu has said.

cheers for that mate, i'll have a look...

if it does need the sensor switch replacing, how do i go about doing that? is it easy enough or should a trained mechanic do it?

ok sounds good, i just tried putting my foot under the pedal as you said but still the brake lights won't go off so i'm assuming the sensor switch will need replacing.

any idea where the switch would be located?

umm.. i think ( dont quote me ion this tho ) its at the brake pedal is it no?

really stabbing at the dark tho.. i would assume it is as the sensor needs to be oipen'd closed by pedal?

I had to replace the switch on my old 106 (I know not the same car) but this was located at the very top or near the top of the brake pedal, so you will to get on your back and look under the your pedals. Try to find the switch on the brake pedal matching the picture in the ad.

Should be simply unplug and unplug with luck... im assume there!
