07 plate Astra sport hatch 1.6T

    Hi

I have just registered here so this is my first post.

I'll admit straight away that I am by no means a car expert. As the title of this thread suggests I have just bought myself an 07 plate Astra Sport Hatch 1.6T. So far i'm very pleased with it, however i have noticed something that i'm not sure is normal.

My question to you guys is regarding time between pressing the gas pedal and the revs kicking in. Lets say i was sitting in the car with the engine running and in neutral. If i press the accelerator by a small amount, about as much as you would do pulling away from some lights at an average speed, it takes about half a second before i hear the engine revs actually building up. If i were to floor it then the engine respons fairly quickly.

This took me by surprise at first as i hit the biting point on the clutch before the revs had gone high enough and i nearly stalled the thing.

I may be making this sound worse than it is but as i had noticed it i thought that i would ask to see if this was a normal engine response. It does feel as though pulling away in first gear is fairly slow and I have to get into second gear as soon as possible.

Thanks for reading and hopefully someone can put my mind at ease!

I find the best way to overcome a small delay is to keep it nailed
Dont think its anything to worry about, you'll soon compensate for it.
