An AA man removed the broken starter motor from my Mk3 (1995) Astra GLS 1.6i 16v yesterday and in the process its casing broke and some of the bits dropped down inside the engine.
I'm going to fit a new starter motor tomorrow but I'm just wondering how critical it is that I get the bits out as it's very awkward to get to. Can anyone advise? As the bits are some sort of brittle diecast metal is it possible that the flywheel will just grind them up without causing any damage?
