If you bought a fault code reader then yes it would give you the fault numbers, or you could do the pedal test which is free

Hows the car driving? is it any different, bad on fuel low power etc..

You wont be able to know the exact fault code just from the dash light, any number of things could have triggered it.

I have tried the pedal test but could not do it as the car spanner only flashed once. It's driving really well no lose of power and fuel ok

I dont think your pressing the pedals right down. Really put pressure on them and try again.

First time i tryed it i couldnt get it to work. Give it a few goes.

    nope

time for a service is "INSP"

the spanner is the engine management light

try disconnecting the battery for a bit and then see if the light comes on again - then do the pedal test again if the light returns (there could be an old fault no longer causing a problem but bringing the light on)
