    small coolant loss

    Hi guys,

    probably worrying about nothing here!!

ive noticed every month or so the coolant level seems to drop ever so slightly below the kalt mark,

ive had the waterpump done about 2 weeks ago and its dropped slightly again today,

trouble is i park on a slope facing down so its really difficult to get a reading when the engine is cold,

is it possible since doing the waterpump there could be an air leak or something causing the level to drop?

    many thanks

After changing the coolant the level will drop quite a bit for about 3-5 days depending on mileage as any air locks are forced out. Its happened to me every time I've changed something cooling system related but settles down after a few days.

The bearings on the waterpump may also take a few weeks to bed in perhaps?

If you are still worried, get it pressure tested. I had a small coolant loss on my Vectra that was a real head-scratcher. A pressure test showed that the thermostat gasket was leaking. £2 to replace so yours could be something simple like that.
