    need a new boiler?

hi guys im just trying to judge whats needed to replace a boiler mines nearly 20+ and although its a combi and does work well its noisy and costing a fortune, i know i need someone gas safe registered to fit it but is it ok/legal for me to replace it with a newer condenser boiler and then get someone gas safe reg'd to check it over/commission it etc

have to add im a refrigeration engineer with the relevent gas handling qualifications to do my job + my soldering and braising is a1

I think it is legal for you to do it, but the work will have to be inspected by relavent authorities or certified people and signed off

viallant boilers come with a 7year warranty i think.

Also the gas needs to be connected by a professionally qualified person.

I dont think you can fit it then get it checked over, I think its possible for you to do some of the work then get them to do the main bits.

There is some information at www.diynot.com

You can't touch any gas appliance unless you're registered

Give me a PM if you want info on this, someone could bring up details and report you to corgi as there still in force for complaints against what you have said you were going to do.
I own my own plumbing heating bathroom company and as long as you have CCN1,HTR and the GAS FLUE ANALYSER certification you should be a ok to install yourself but when registering your boiler find a gas safe engineer to check over the work and do the appropriate tests including working pressures of the boiler, and more importantly the flue as this is where your carbon minoxide comes in, this should cost no more than £60 for the check.
I normally fit alpha boilers as we get a good recovery with them but if you want a cheaper boiler i would advise an IDEAL LOGIC COMBI which is easy to fit and has 5yr cover included. As stated al give all advise you want if you really need it.
