Astra 2.0 16V SRI (T Reg) Exhaust strange noise and eggy smell??

    Hi
Can anyone help me as my Astra has a problem, a strange humming noise when driving every now and then and im getting a really bad smell of rotten eggs coming from it! Otherwise it runs fine and this does not effect performance.
    many thanks...

The eggy smell could be a dead cat. But im sure some one will be along soon to be of more help.

I was also thinking along the lines of it being the cat.

its the cat mate and you wont get through a mot if you put a staight through on unless you put a cat on sports cat will be expensive and if you go to some like c e s or unipart you will be looking at around 100quid

sports cats can be had for as little as 100 notes - just chop out ur old one and weld in the new one - job done!

sports cats are less restrictive - generally 200 cpi (cells per square inch) as opposed to the 400cpi of standard cats - race cats are 100cpi but these sometimes fail MOTs

200cpi will sail through emissions - this is what id recommend

failing that - buy a complete off the shelf front pipe assembly with cat built in

whether it be standard cat or sports cat - i wouldnt waste ur time on shitty aftermarket pattern cats - they are uber shite!

a good brand like hoffmann is most recommended - all in stainless

heres a couple of options to consider

Standard cat front pipe assembly - £139.00

Sports cat front pipe assembly - £229.00

Best bang for your budget IMO
