    Thumbs Down Popped a speaker . . . .

As title really, blown one fo the front door speakers, only standard at the moment but figure if I got to pull the door cards out to change then I may aswell upgrade the fronts.

Any suggestions on decent speakers for a decent price? What are people on here listening with?

It's a coupe by the way so will need component set with tweeters etc.

    Cheers

All depends on your budget. You will also need a mounting kit (Autoleads SAK 3001) or you can make up your own from MDF/Plywood if you want.
For sub £100 have a look at the MTX Road Thunder RTS652 6½" 2-way component speakers, £60.

For the £100-200 range have a look at the JL Audio TR650CSI 6½" 2-Way components, £110.

Or the Focal 165A1 Access Line 6½" component speakers, £125.

    Or the JL Audio C2-650 6½" 2-Way components, £180.

Is there a massive amount in difference in the quality of these speakers? Obviously the high end ones are more expensive but is it worth the extra cash? I would generally have said get summin like the Thunder's sort of price but if it's genuinely worth the extra cash then I might go up a bit.

I don't know much about ICE, should really spend some time reading up on it a bit more but I am just too busy! lol

I might get flamed for suggesting standard coaxials, but thats what ive put in my Astra. Pretty much any aftermarket speaker will be better than the stock ones.
I have these in the doors:
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ALPINE-SXE-172...item3efb0c87f5

And while they wont compete with amped components (obviously), the difference between them and the stock ones is night and day. I tested this by fading to the front speakers only, then to the rear (stock) speakers and the Alpines are a huge improvement. Ive got a JBL 12" sub running off 275 RMS amp. Like i said not the most powerful set up by any means but its enough for me. If not mentioned already you will also need an aftermarket headunit if you are going to be connecting an amp.

Yeah I have the coupe though so already have a component set up with seperate tweeters. So need those really to make a decent job of it I think.

Cheers for the input though, always welcome. :-)

Or slate me for suggesting Fli Comp 6 components, under £50 but cracking for the money in my opinion, especially when amp'd.

OK, I'll slate you for it then.
Personally I think they're overhyped & overmarketed crap.

The MTX will be a much better sounding speaker, especially for the price.

I have the focal speakers linked above and they are very very good, I have them amped from an MTX amp and fitted properly, I get plenty of bass and sounds very good. Even before amping from my pioneer head unit they sounded much better than standard.

not wanting to thread jack but i have the same issue with my front speakers.

i have got alpine 6x9's on my parcel shelf (added by previous owner) i have always believed that alpine makes the best sounding speakers and came across these as a replacement for my damaged speakers

    http://www.bassjunkies.com/audio/alpine-sxe-1750s

    any opinions on them?
