    whats the cheapest/best fault code reader

    light came on my van (again) dont want to be stung by the local rip off garage so im looking for a fault code reader/re setter but not willing to spend hundreds .. any ideas (van is a V plate 2.0di)
    handheld one ... cant be bothered with laptop one

    When i had my 51 plate 1.7 DTI the best that i found was a usb elm 327 and Gendan Vauxcheck software for the laptop. Doesn't cost the earth and i've still got it running on the laptop now. I couldn't find a suitable handheld as the car was before the 2004 compliancy came in.

    You can get an OP-COM unit for about £25 from china. they are pretty good. Do a search and get comments on OP-COM.

    Yeah I can agree with the OPCOM. Pretty much every vx since 2000 (some before) and saab 93/95.

    Airbag lights, fault code reader, program/remove keys (need keypass card) the list goes on. Great piece of kit.
